10 thoughts on...Calvary

  1. This is heartbreaking.
  2. I don't want to hear anything that thinks this film is comedy.
  3. Ireland has a great history of producing powerful tragedies / tragicomedies on stage, but this may be the first one on film.
  4. All of the cast are superb.
  5. I wept. And that isn't a usual occurrence.
  6. Ireland has a lot of pain due to the Catholic Church and society's behaviour towards it / because of its influence. This is an apt portrait of this pain.
  7. It is exciting to think that this film is a mirror to contemporary Ireland that was made by Irish artists, rather than The Wind That Shakes the Barley or The Magdalene Sisters.
  8. I need more time to process this film.
  9. I will have to watch it again. And again.
  10. Irish cinema is having a very exciting moment. And it seems as if it will continue...
