  1. I'm sure I thought this before sitting down in the cinema but this is a hugely ambitious story to adapt for the big screen. It isn't the best in the series (more on that somewhere below) yet it is impossible not to admire the many successes and sheer scale of the film.
  2. I may have a crush on Michael Fassbender. In fact, the whole world of X-Men seems to be populated with handsome men.
  3. The strength of the first two, and best, films in the series is its focus on the ordinariness of the characters despite their mutant abilities. They were the minority group that we could identify with. In this latest film there is too little time devoted to this and we are too quick to be in the midst of an action-packed fight which showcases this group as superheroes, and that the enemy are now a bunch of machines rather than society itself. Maybe I'm alone in this opinion but I prefer the smaller scale before heading into the action.
  4. That baseball/football/whatever stadium really didn't need to be lifted to surround the White House.
  5. The X-Men are easily my favourite comic book superheroes, with Magneto and Mystique being the most interesting in the film series.
  6. Halle Berry seems to have pulled the short straw, in a role that has not one memorable moment. Even the few seconds of screen time Anna Paquin gets is more interesting. She needs to talk to her agent...
  7. ...which it seems Ellen Page did as she had got a plump role reprised from something much smaller in the third X-Men film.
  8. *Potential spoiler* How exciting was it to see Famke Janseen back?!
  9. Why can't we all just get along?
  10. I can't wait to watch the next one.
