An irresistible question.

"What do you think I have down there, a gnome?"

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

I want this one moment.

"It’s that thing when you’re with someone and you love them and they know it, and they love you and you know it, but it’s a party! And you’re both talking to other people and you’re laughing and shining and you look across the room and catch each other’s eyes. But…but not because you’re possessive or it’s precisely sexual but because that is your person in this life. And it’s funny and sad but only because this life will end. And it’s this secret world that exists right there in public unnoticed that no one knows about. It’s sort of like how they say that other dimensions exist all around us, but we don’t have the ability to perceive them. That’s…that’s what I want out of a relationship or just life, I guess."

Frances Ha. For anyone in their twenties or thirties living in a city and trying to find their way in the world full of expectation this is essential viewing. An incredible film.

10 thoughts on...The World's End

  1. This really isn't anywhere as entertaining or clever as Hot Fuzz, nevermind Shaun of the Dead.
  2. Rosamond Pike needs to be cast in roles that showcase her talent, like this one. Although...
  3. ...why did her character need to exit so frequently? Firstly it was obvious that she would be back for crucial moments and secondly she probably should have stuck with the gang.
  4. It's reassuring to see Eddie Marsan have fun / play a fun character / not be evil.
  5. The fact that they play Kylie Minogue's 'Never Too Late' gets it automatic brownie points from me.
  6. A nostalgic desire to recapture your youth / home is a solid place to start developing an idea for a story from, unfortunately this doesn't seem like it was developed much at all.
  7. Pierce Brosnan is always humorous. Whether intentionally or not.
  8. When is Paddy Considine going to direct his second feature film?
  9. The final hour or so is as disappointing as any ending I can think of.
  10. I want to watch Spaced again.
